Engineering Leader
I build and scale engineering organizations. The teams, the systems, the culture, and the conditions that let good engineers do their best work. Lately that includes figuring out how AI actually fits into engineering orgs. Not as a talking point, but as something that changes how teams operate.
About
I've spent my career leading engineering at companies where the product is complex, the customers are demanding, and the stakes are real.
At Axway, I led global engineering teams building enterprise B2B integration platforms: the infrastructure that moves sensitive data between large organizations at scale. Thousands of enterprise customers. Regulated industries. Software that cannot go down.
At SimSpace, I scaled an engineering org from 50 to over 100 people while modernizing a cloud-native platform used to train the people who defend US critical infrastructure. Fast growth, hard problems, high standards.
I'm currently looking for my next role.
What I Do
From hiring plans to team structure to leadership development. I've done this through rapid growth phases and know what breaks and what holds.
Predictable delivery isn't luck. It's metrics, process, culture, and honest conversations about tradeoffs. I build the conditions for it.
Kubernetes, microservices, CI/CD, multi-cloud. I've led teams building and modernizing platforms that have to run at enterprise scale.
I work across product, sales, finance, and the board. Engineering strategy that connects to business outcomes, not just technical ones.
Experience
Cyber range platform with $50M+ ARR, used by US Cyber Command and 200,000+ VMs worldwide.
Scaled engineering from 50 to 100+ engineers and rebuilt the org structure from the ground up: clear ownership, defined leadership layers, and delivery accountability where none had existed before. Turned a team that chronically missed commitments into one that delivered planned work reliably enough for the executive team to commit the roadmap to enterprise customers quarters in advance.
Drove cloud-native platform evolution across multi-cloud infrastructure in environments subject to federal security requirements. Partnered with principal engineers on Kubernetes orchestration, multi-region failover, and cost optimization that reduced cloud spend while improving reliability. Introduced an AI tooling strategy across the org, deploying GitHub Copilot and Claude with a governance framework, plus targeted agentic AI pilots with MLOps guardrails. Integrated engineering teams from an acquired company, aligning culture, tooling, and delivery practices across previously separate teams. Partnered with CTO, executives, and board on technical strategy and multi-year budget planning.
Open talent marketplace for skilled labor; $750M+ funding, ~$100M ARR.
Owned and scaled a 70+ engineer division, hiring aggressively at all levels and building out management structure across multiple product lines. Led engineering for marketplace matching algorithm improvements and a React-based mobile-first redesign that measurably increased worker engagement and reduced time-to-fill. Mobile became the primary channel for worker interactions.
Privately held fintech, 150+ employees, configurable lending and engagement platforms.
Built Engineering, Product, and UX from the ground up: team structure, leadership hiring, and delivery practices where none had existed. Delivered a customer-facing portal and multi-channel communication platform that reduced support burden and let the business scale without proportional headcount growth.
Destination web and mobile platform for retail savings, $400M in revenue, millions of monthly active users.
Led 40+ engineers across Phoenix and Kyiv. Drove architectural direction for migration from monolith to microservices across a React-based consumer platform, defining service boundaries, data consistency patterns, and observability approaches that improved system performance and team autonomy.
Global integration leader; €300M revenue, €200M ARR, 11,000+ enterprise customers.
Built and led a global engineering organization of 100+ across Phoenix, Bucharest, Bangalore, Malmö, and Berlin. Led engineering across a portfolio of products assembled through multiple acquisitions, unifying teams, codebases, and delivery practices serving enterprise customers in healthcare, financial services, and supply chain. Drove platform modernization from monolithic on-premise architecture to cloud-capable SaaS delivery, enabling customers to meet evolving compliance and scale requirements.
Background in distributed systems on AWS and GCP, including event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and multi-region patterns. Engage meaningfully with senior engineers on tradeoffs across performance, cost, reliability, and complexity. Teams I've led primarily work in Go, Python, and Java ecosystems with modern observability stacks. I use Claude Code as a primary development workflow for personal and side projects, with firsthand experience driving AI adoption and tooling governance inside engineering organizations.
Earlier: TransCore, Vcommerce, SalesLogix, University of Michigan Institute of Social Research.
B.S. Computer Science, University of Michigan.
Now
Open to my next role. Remote U.S. or local to the Phoenix, AZ metro.
On the side, I'm building Blue Luci, an indie app studio. It keeps me close to the work.
I write occasionally on LinkedIn about engineering leadership, building teams, and things I've learned mostly from making mistakes.
